It is difficult to quit smoking

10 years ago, I casually started smoking to shrug off my good-boy image and gradually it became a regular habit as well as addiction. Cigarettes worth more than Rs. 60,000 had gone up in smoke and it was then that I decided to stop smoking. I tried several times but it was all in vain. Thomas Edison once said, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up”. Sometimes it is our lack of willpower which makes us vulnerable to any kind of addiction. It is a very strange psychology that compels us to simply ignore any kind of statutory warning at the cost of our life. Perhaps we try to tame and dominate anything that is harmful to us but it is always better to overcome such tendency especially when we are not sure of victory.
